Our Story

Meet Kevin and Amalia

North Star has never been just a place we’ve built. It’s a place we’ve poured our hearts into.

Long before the first Nature Suite™ welcomed its first guests, we imagined creating something that felt increasingly rare—a place where thoughtful design, genuine hospitality, and the quiet beauty of nature could help couples reconnect with one another.

Today, we have the privilege of living here on the mountain, personally welcoming guests, sharing our favorite places, and caring for every stay as if we were preparing it for family. We’re grateful you’re here, and we hope to welcome you to North Star soon.

The Beginning

Created
with Intention.

Every meaningful place has a beginning.

Ours started with fifty-five beautiful acres, a shared vision, and countless conversations about the kind of place we wished existed.

The time that followed was filled with muddy boots, early mornings, long days, difficult decisions, and moments that tested our resolve. Every road, every trail, every Nature Suite™, and every thoughtful detail became part of a story written one day at a time.

Looking back, we wouldn’t change a thing. Because every challenge shaped the place that now welcomes couples from across the country—and every guest who arrives becomes part of its story.

Before North Star

Two Journeys.
One Shared Vision.

Before North Star, our careers followed different paths—but they were always leading here.

For more than thirty years, Amalia designed homes where thoughtful spaces enriched everyday life. She believes the most beautiful design isn’t the kind that draws attention to itself, but the kind that quietly changes the way people feel.

Kevin spent twenty-five years creating exceptional guest experiences, leading operations for one of the country’s premier health and wellness brands. He learned that true hospitality isn’t found in grand gestures—it’s found in thoughtful ones.

North Star became the place where those two lifelong passions finally came together.

The Land

Rooted in a
Remarkable Place.

North Star sits on fifty-five private acres in Sparta, Tennessee, surrounded by more than sixty-six thousand acres of protected land.

Known as the Land of Falling Water, this extraordinary region is home to one of the greatest concentrations of waterfalls in the United States. Ancient forests, dramatic limestone cliffs, hidden caves, deep gorges and dark star-filled skies create a landscape that has inspired generations to slow down, explore, and reconnect with nature.

It’s a place that quietly reminds us how restorative the natural world can be.

How It Was Made

Built by Hand.
Hosted by Heart

North Star wasn’t built by a development company.

It was shaped one decision, one challenge, and one dream at a time.

Every Nature Suite™, every trail, every view, and every thoughtful detail reflects hands-on work. Amalia personally designed the architecture, interiors, and site plan, while together we served as general contractors, overseeing every step of bringing North Star to life.

Today, we have the privilege of welcoming guests to the same mountain we poured ourselves into creating. We hope you’ll feel that care in every stay.

Every Day Here

Life On
the Mountain

North Star is more than the place we welcome guests.

It’s the place we call home.

Each day begins much the same way: walking the property, caring for the land, preparing the suites, and making quiet improvements that help every stay feel just a little more thoughtful than the last.

The work is never really finished—and we wouldn’t want it to be. Caring for this mountain, and for the guests who choose to spend time here, has become one of the greatest privileges of our lives.

We believe the most meaningful hospitality isn’t found in grand gestures—it’s found in showing up, every single day, to care for the people and the place entrusted to us.
